Meetings According to the 3 discussion and 1 demonstration meetings made with the two directors of the museum: - Firstly, the directors of the museum expect that Virtual BU project will let museum’s location become well-known by the people. - They also expect from Virtual BU project that it will clearly show how to reach to the museum by the representation of main entrance and by the related signs. - The directors do not require our senior project to virtualize the downstairs part of the museum, namely the permanent collection section. - Rather than focusing on more complex and specific functionalities, they initially prefer us to focus on the basic structure of the main room. - They fairly expect from us that we will virtualize the whole three floors of the museum, naturally, as similar as the actual museum is with guiding the virtual visitor by the proper signs, the stairs and other related funtionalities. - Moreover, they indicated that they would like to be able to change the artwork material shown parametrically by using a user-friendly interface in the future. Yet as mentioned above, they first would like us to practice on the basic design of the museum, so that they can consider their requirements, and decide for more complex expectations.

Work Done - Hitherto, we have made 4 discussion and 1 demonstration meetings with the directors in order to discuss and learn their expectations and decide how to plan for our senior project. - To gain more convenient perspective about the senior project virtual design, we watched/read some of the related tutorilas about Google Sketch Up and Open Wonderland before determining the exact specifications. - Since the actual three dimensional measurements of the museum were required for all the three floors, we arranged a meeting with one of the managers of the physical facilities department of the university. Then, we got several important information, with also the new and the old actual plans of the museum with actual three dimensional measurements. - Then, we practiced on Google SketchUp on creating a sample 3D model of the main room of the museum very basically as we focused on observing the important points in both new and old plans. - We commonly practiced on how to log in to Open Wonderland, in order to be aware of sharing and communicating at this platform. - After finishing our, first level practices, we decided to demonstrate our fırst sample 3D model with the directors recently, in order to share our progress and discuss the specifications for the next semester. - According to our demonstration meeting, the directors seemed glad with our progression. They let us to take pictures of the museum in order to be able to work on our senior project during the winter break. - The directors also requested one sample of artwork put on the museum’s wall. Therefore, we used an appropriate specifically defined frame model to exhibit an artwork parametrically.
