Accomplishments:
- The first meeting has been completed.
- VNC viewer was set up to establish remote connection to the virtual machines.
- The Wiki has been set up.

Week 2
09/25/2025
Summary: The group met to discuss the overall goals expected of us by Kopernik. The goal was given to update the current GOES-16 framework so that it would work with GOES-19 and download the images into channel 2.
Accomplishments:
- Group meeting has been completed.
- Set up connection to GOES-19.
- Set up a separate config file and image folder for GOES-19.
- Packets received from GOES-19.
- Image successfully downloaded from GOES-19.
To-Do:
- Meet with the Kopernik team to discuss what our next tasks will be.
Week 3
10/16/2025
Summary: Worked on properly setting up and automating the image collection, GIF creation, and obsolete images deletion for the GOES-19 system.
Accomplishments:
- Able to collect Images from GOES-19
- Able to convert gathered Images into a GIF
- Created a script so that it gathers the previous day's images at 00:10 AM and converts them into a gift.
- Created a delete script that removes images older than a certain number of days to save disk space.
To-Do:
- Unable to collect fully colored images, need to ask for clarification on what might be going wrong.
- Change GIF Framerate so that the image turns slightly slower.
- Look into whether the packet drops happen because of our diagnostics.
Week 4
10/23/2025
Summary: Fixed the issues that we were having the previous week in regards to getting the full color images. Adjusted our gif and delete scripts according to the previous weeks discussion.
Accomplishments:
- Able to receive colored images from the goes19 satellite.
- Created adjusted framerates in the gifs so that we can see what feels smoothest.
- Delete script refined so that it will remove unused folders and images after a set number of days.
To-Do:
- Fix the issue with random packet dropping
- Look into finding a smoother framerate for the gifs
Week 5
11/06/2025
Summary: New issue in regards to random stops in receiving packages for the GOES-19 system. Certain images are not being received properly.
Accomplishments:
- Changed crontab scripts to see if they were causing issues.
- Trying different methods in image retrieval to diagnose what problems are causing the system to stop.
To-Do:
- Figure out and sustain a proper way to maintain images so we do not have to continuously restart image collection
- Once we have proper image collections running again, create a new script to make a smooth gif.
