Welcome to my website

I am an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Binghamton University. I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology (under the supervision of Dr. Yingying Chen), and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Rutgers University. My B.S. degree is earned from Tongji University in China.

I am looking for motivated students to work with me in Mobile Computing, Smart Healthcare, Embedded Systems, and Wireless Networks. If you have a strong motivation in doing system research in these areas please send me an email, or stop by and let's chat.

Our IoT security project is hot in the media: IEEE Spectrum, PHYS.ORG, FORTUNE, ScienceDaily, Yahoo Tech, Stevens News, Binghamton News, etc.

Our wearable device based PIN detection paper "Friend or Foe? Your Wearable Devices Reveal Your Personal PIN" has received the Best Paper award in ACM AsiaCCS 2016. (Prof. Yingying Chen from the Stevens Institute of Technology is the lead researcher and the corresponding author of this paper.)

NSF awarded Yan's research project on "Ubiquitous Sensing based Location-aware Driving Safety System".
