BUILDING A Win32 API DLL (Microsoft VC++ Developer Studio)-- 1. From Visual Studio: File | New | VC++ Project | Win32 Project Application settings: DLL Give the DLL project a name, as usual 2. Create or copy DLL's .cpp (.c), .h, .rc files to DLL project directory ("EXPORT" all DLL function declarations in .h file) 3. Build the project If the build is successful: Project's Debug directory will have DLL (.DLL) and import library (.LIB) files BUILDING A Win32 API APP THAT USES THE DLL (VC++)-- 1. File | New | VC++ Project Win32 Project Application settings: Empty Project (to create the "Win32 Application" as usual) 2. Create or copy the app's .cpp (.c), .h, .rc files to the app's project directory 3. Copy .LIB file from the DLL's Debug directory into the app's project directory 4. Project | Add Existing Item to add app's .cpp (.c), .rc, and DLL's .LIB files to project 5. Build project --> .EXE file in app's Debug directory, as usual 6. Copy .DLL file from DLL's Debug directory to app's Debug directory Could be placed in the Windows System directory 7. Run the .EXE file.
